Richard Gene Cloyed

Richard Gene Cloyed, age 76, of Moravia, IA, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at his home. Richard was born on April 4, 1948, in Willits, CA, to Lyle and Virginia Rosalie (Campbell) Cloyed. The family moved to Monroe County and Richard graduated from the Moravia High School with the Class of 1966. He then went to Iowa Tech Community College where he studied electronics and graduated in 1968. On December 7, 1968, he was united in marriage to Carol Ann Hendricks. They were blessed with 55 years of marriage prior to his passing. Richard was very talented with electronics, especially televisions. He owned and operated Cloyed’s Antenna Service for several years, fixing people’s televisions and putting up antennas. He later went to work for Burlington Northern Railroad until his retirement in 2003. Richard had a love for being outdoors and deer hunting. He enjoyed woodworking and tinkering around the house. He also loved going to auctions. Richard enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his good friends, Dennis Doud and Dale Cox. He was always a friendly face and would help anyone in need. Richard is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Cloyed; a daughter, Christine (Chris) Grimes; a son, David (Jodi) Cloyed; his grandchildren, Olivia (Dustin) Dyke, Katherine Grimes, Geremiah Grimes, Ryan (Terran) Cloyed; and Kenny Cloyed; a great grandson, Henry Dyke; 2 sisters, Marsha (Reggie) Marlin and Marie (Don) Pauls; and a brother, Ronnie (Brenda) Cloyed. Richard is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Virginia; his grandmother, Mary (Doc) Cubit; and his aunts and uncles, Kenneth (Marjorie) Cloyed, Cliff (Darlene) Cloyed, Laurene (Melvin), and Lois in infancy. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 12, 2024, at the Moravia Grace Church Fellowship Hall in Moravia, with Richard’s family present to greet family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at the Moravia Grace Church, with Pastor Dennis Doud. officiating. Burial will follow services at Hillcrest Cemetery in Moravia.
