Michelle "Shelly" Marie Robinson

Michelle “Shelly” Marie Robinson, age 55, of Moravia, IA, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at her home. Shelly was born on March 19, 1968, in Cedar Rapids, IA, to Victor and Patricia (Driscoll) Butz. She grew up attending school and graduated from the Moravia High School with the class of 1987. On May 22, 1993, she was united in marriage to Paul Robinson and to this union, 2 daughters, Heather and Emily, were born. Shelly was a homemaker, staying at home to raise her daughters. She later went to work at Pizza Hut, Captain’s Landing, and Spencer’s in Moravia before cleaning homes for others. Shelly enjoyed being outdoors and loved flowering gardening. She also enjoyed her indoor plants. Shelly enjoyed crafts, painting, and coloring with her grandson, Oliver. She liked watching television, especially the Food Network, murder mysteries, and Longmire. She was an excellent cook, known for her taco breakfast and vegetable soup. Shelly enjoyed going to pumpkin patches in the fall and attending the Fall Festival in Moravia. She loved celebrating the holidays, especially Christmas. Shelly’s family was everything to her and she cherished all of the time she spent with them, especially her grandson Oliver, whom she truly adored. Shelly is survived by her husband, Paul Robinson; 2 daughters, Heather (Nick) Main and Emily (Jody) Ballanger; 3 grandchildren, Laney, Lexy, and Oliver; 2 great grandchildren, Rose and Athena; 2 siblings, Tammy (Jess) Uhlenhake and Jerry Butz; and her mother-in-law, Wanda Robinson. Shelly is also survived by her nephews, cousins and good friends. Shelly is preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Patricia Butz; a brother, Danny Butz; her father-in-law, Dean Robinson; a sister-in-law, Trish Reinhard; 2 brothers-in-law, Bobby and Mike Robinson; a niece, Lauren Reinhard; and a nephew, Nathan Reinhard Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Shelly’s family present to greet family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia. A private family burial will be held at a later date. An open memorial has been established to the family.
