Allison Mae McGrann

Allison Mae McGrann, age 52, of Albia, IA, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at her mother’s home in Centerville, IA, surrounded by her family. Allison was born on December 4, 1972, in Alexandria, MN, daughter of Jerry and Sharon (Sowers) Hatfield. She grew up attending school in Centerville and went on to Indian Hills Community College where she obtained her LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) degree. Allison worked as an LPN at Golden Age Care Center and Centerville Specialty Care for 32 years. After meeting her soulmate, Jim Angran, Allison and Jim built and ran Top Notch together in Albia. Allison was very strong in her faith and attended the Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene in Moravia. She was a very selfless, loving, caring, and generous person with a servant’s heart. She was truly willing to help anyone in need and was a natural caretaker. She always had a smile on her face and never knew a stranger. Allison loved being outdoors, fishing, gardening, and feeding the hummingbirds. She took pride in keeping her yard nice and tending to her flowers. She loved to decorate for the holidays, especially Christmas and Valentine’s Day. She enjoyed going to auctions and was very talented with a knack for refinishing furniture. She also enjoyed going to demolition derbies and watching True Crime shows on television. She had a passion for the campaign to find Harry Milligan. Allison’s true joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her daughters and grandchildren, who were everything to her. Allison is survived by her significant other, Jim Angran; 3 daughters, Lacey (Derek) Ewing, Tori (Lathan Hughes) McGrann, Kaitlyn (Gunnar Guffey) McGrann; 2 stepchildren, Allie (Jake) Hargrave and Nate (Kennedi) Angran; 2 grandchildren, Trapper, Ryder and Allie and Jake’s baby on the way; her mother, Sharon Hatfield; her siblings, Lisa (Dennis) Vestal, Deanna (David) Johnson, and Stephanie (Randy Dunlavey) Bazal; her mother-in-law, Pat Angran; brothers-in-law, Steve (Cindy) Angran and John (Lori) Angran; and her beloved dog, Gypsy Mae. Allison is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. Allison is preceded in death by her father, Jerry Hatfield; a sister, Dalayna Pierce; and her father-in-law, Joe “Papa Joe” Angran. A Celebration of Allison’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at the Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene in Moravia, with Pastor Terry Chapman officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date. A memorial has been established to Finding Harry Milligan.
