Vera Lucille Hayworth

Vera Lucille Hayworth, age 98, of Albia, died early Tuesday June 3, 2008 at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia. Vera was born on October 25, 1909 in Monroe County, Iowa to James R. and Minnie M. (Chidester) Sinclair. Vera graduated from Albia High School. After high school Vera attended and graduated from the State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She taught in several country schools; Miller Ridge, Mantua Center, Urbana Center, Williamson, Selection, Watson, and Franklin. Vera married Roy H. Hayworth on April 24, 1946. They had one son, Harlan, born in 1953. He survives Vera. Vera went back to school and received special needs training in Woodward, Iowa. She worked for several years in the Albia schools special needs programs. Vera was a life long member of the First Christian Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the ladies auxiliary of the V.F.W. Preceding Vera in death is her husband Roy; her brother, Dewayne Sinclair; three sisters, Alta Maxine in infancy, Mildred (Ottis) Davis, and Frances Felton. Surviving Vera is her son, Harlan Hayworth of Albia; a brother in law, Loyde Felton; and a sister in law Regena Sinclair; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, June 7, 2008, at the First Christian Church in Albia. Rev. Lynda Carlson officiating. Burial will follow services at Oakview Cemetery in Albia. Visitation will open after 12:00, noon on Friday, June 6, 2008, at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia. Family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 P.M., Friday evening at the Winfield funeral Home. Memorials have been established to the First Christian Church or to Harlan's residence, Cottage Grove.
