Raymond L. Jones

Raymond L. Jones, age 91, of Albia, died Thursday, August 21, 2008, at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia. Raymond was born August 19, 1917, in Hiteman, Iowa, to William Wesley and Martha "Maddy" (Parry) Jones. On January 26, 1953 he married Elizabeth McDonough in Albia, Iowa. Following high school Raymond entered the Army and served in World War II. After returning from the military Raymond worked for John Deere for a couple of years. Raymond farmed for most of his life. Raymond was a member of the American Legion, Howard Cessna Post #136 of Albia, and a member of the First Christian Church of Albia. Raymond is survived by his wife; Elizabeth Jones of Albia, Six step children; Ronald Lee Rhatigan of Albia, IA, Reva Maye (James) Dunning of Albia, IA, Robert Ray Rhatigan of Marshalltown, IA, Richard James (Erma) Rhatigan of Jacksonville, Fl, Roy Howard (Linda) Rhatigan of Council Bluffs, IA, and Rosalie Ann Rhatigan of Ottumwa, IA,. Raymond is also survived by one sister Thelma Clark of Centerville, IA, and several grandchildren, and several great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren. Raymond is preceded in death by his parents; William and Martha, his first wife; Viola (Thompson) Jones, a adopted daughter; Karen Kay Durham, three brothers Everett Jones, Earl Jones and Junior Jones, Two sister; Leona Walker and Florence Jones. Raymond is also preceded by four grandchildren; Reva Beth Dunning, Pamela Maye Dunning, Raymond Rollo Dunning, Everett Garr, and Doug Rhatigan. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00A.M., Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at Winfield Funeral Home in Albia, with Rev. Lynda Carlson, Officiating. Burial will follow services at Cuba Cemetery in Albia. Visitation for Raymond will begin at 9:00 A.M., Monday, August 25, 2008 at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia. Raymond's family will be present during the day and from 6 to 8:00 P.M., Monday evening. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Multiple Sclerosis Society or to the First Christian Church in Albia.
