Evelyn Mae Ramey

December 20, 1937 - December 24, 2006

Evelyn Mae (Chapman) Ramey, age 69, of Albia, Iowa died Sunday, December 24, 2006 at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia. Evelyn was born December 20, 1937 in Russell, Iowa to Earl and Zelma (Bowman) Chapman. They precede her in death. Evelyn was a graduate of Albia High School, and later studied at the Academy of Art and the Art Institute of Chicago. Evelyn worked for many years in the Chicago area, as an executive assistant, before retiring and later moving back to Albia. Evelyn found many enjoyments in life, including antiquing, painting, animals, flowers, and playing the baritone horn with various bands in the Chicago and Albia area. Evelyn is survived by her husband, James Ramey of Albia; her two daughters, Vicki (Kevin) Stockert of Cary, Illinois, and Shelly (Pat) Walsh of Glenview, Illinois; three grandsons, Steve and Brian Walsh, and Alan Stockert. Evelyn is also survived by five sisters, Eleanor (Albert) Hackett, Janice (Don) Teno, Judy (Jim) Hackett, Lorraine (Gary) Cooper all of Albia, and Carol (Don) McDaniel of Bremerton, Washington. Visitation will begin after 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia, with the family present from 6-8 P.M. Tuesday evening. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M., Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia with Pastor Rick Smith officiating. Burial will follow services at Oak View Cemetery in Albia.
