Alzina Marie Bentley

Alzina Marie Bentley, age 83, of Oskaloosa, IA, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her loved ones, and under the care of Care Initiatives Hospice. Alzina was born on March 16, 1941, daughter of Harold and Kathryn (Parker) McKim, in Albia, IA. She grew up attending country school. She was united in marriage to Bud Davis. Alzina and Bud later divorced. On May 14, 1983, she married Kenneth Leroy Bentley. Alzina and Kenneth were blessed with 35 years of marriage prior to his passing on February 27, 2019. Alzina worked at Smith Laundry in Albia and later at Chamberlains before moving to Jacksonville, IL. There she worked as a dispatcher for the Friendly Cab Company. Upon returning to Iowa, Alzina worked as a CNA at the Monroe County Hospital and lastly at BP until her retirement. Alzina enjoyed being outdoors, camping, fishing, and flower and vegetable gardening. She also enjoyed playing cards games, such as Pass the Ace, 31, Wahoo as well as playing Bingo. She was an excellent baker, known for her cinnamon rolls and bread. Alzina was an amazing woman with a big heart. Above all else, her true joy in life was spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Alzina is survived by her children, Chris Bentley of Sylvester, GA, Dallas Davis of Oskaloosa, IA, Terry (Travis) Cassill of Shell Knob, MO, Michelle (Mike) Wilson of Kirkville, IA, and Dawn (Dell) Elder of Oskaloosa, IA; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and siblings, Carol, (Ray) Stephens, Rita (Vince) Crall, Geraldine Stewart, Norma (Cal) Scales, Paul (Rhonda) McKim, Kathy (Brad) Edmondson, Eddie McKim, and Barbie (Dan) Casper. Alzina is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends. Alzina is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; her parents, Harold and Kathryn McKim; siblings, Leona, Rosie, Beverly, Harold Jr., Jerry, Diane, and Dorothy. Alzina is also preceded in death by many nieces and nephews. Per Alzina’s wishes, her body has been cremated, and a private family burial will be held at a later date.
