Tanya Sue Smith

Tanya Sue Smith, age 49, of Lovilia, IA, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024, at her home. Tanya was born on June 3, 1975, in Albia, IA, to Vicky Lynn Smith. She grew up in Marysville, attending high school at Twin Cedars and later studied at DMACC. Tanya had multiple jobs over the years, ending her working career at Pella Corp. Tanya made many friends over the years. Some loved to follow her singing career where she was known as Insane Jane or Tanya Mayfield. She had a passion and love for nature, animals and music. She had many cats and her heart horse she lost, Rocket. Tanya loved spending time with family and friends. She was always trying to make people laugh and was always a kid at heart. She loved spending time with and spoiling her nieces and nephews whenever she could. She also loved her roses and gardening and enjoyed thrift shopping. Tanya is survived by her father, Dave (Julie) Knox and stepfather, Mark (Sandy) DeHeer; 4 brothers, Nathan (Terri) DeHeer, Derek (Katie) DeHeer, Willis Knox, and Parker Knox; her sister from another mother, Sharon Keegel; and her nieces and nephews, Quincy, Brooklea, Audrey, and Riley DeHeer. Tanya is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and good friends. Tanya is preceded in death by her mother, Vicky Lynn Smith; grandparents, Richard and Geraldine Smith, Lee and Martha Knox, and Leroy “Sox” and Shirley DeHeer; and an uncle, Dale E. Kline. “The hole she has left in our hearts can never be filled. She will be truly missed by the many lives she touched through her life and music. We all love you.” Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Tanya’s family present from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. to greet family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 7, 2024, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Pastor John Sowers officiating. Burial will follow services at Marysville Cemetery in Marysville, Iowa. An open memorial has been established to the family to be determined at a later date.
