Sheila Agnes Sager

Sheila Agnes Sager, age 79, of Albia, IA, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023, at her home. Sheila was born on January 4, 1944, at home in Weller, IA, to Cecil and Agnes (Hutta) Crall. She attended country school in Weller before attending Lovilia High School and graduating with the class of 1962. On July 27, 1963, she was united in marriage to Richard Sager at the Weller Catholic Church and to this union, 3 children were born, Mark, Rick, and Paul. Sheila and Richard were blessed with nearly 60 years of marriage prior to her passing. Sheila was a homemaker, staying at home to raise her children and help her husband on the farm. Sheila enjoyed and took pride in the beautiful home that she and Richard created together. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her many flowers as well as watching the humming birds, swallows, and blue birds. She loved to kill bugs and no bug survived on her patio or in her home. Sheila loved her sweets and was an excellent baker, known for her angel food cakes, pineapple upside down cake and pies of which she always had at least 2 for when people would show up to visit. She loved kids and was affectionately called grandma by many neighboring kids, besides her own grandchildren who adored her. Above all else, Sheila loved her family and cherished all of the time spent with them. Sheila is survived by her husband, Richard Sager; a son, Mark (Jill) Sager; 3 grandchildren, Bryant (Laura) Sager, Brenna (Jonathan) Koehn, and Brittany (Michael) Nelson; 9 great grandchildren, Adalyn, Joseph, Adela, and Isaiah Sager, Madison, Owen and Bridgette Koehn; and Myles and Chase Nelson; and a brother, Jim (Linda) Crall. Sheila is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends. She is preceded in death by 2 sons, Rick and Paul Sager; her parents, Cecil and Agnes Crall; and siblings, Jack Crall, Pat Crall, Bill (Joan) Crall, and Mary (Mick) Ripperger. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 14, 2023, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Sheila’s family present throughout. to greet family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Pastor St. Lawrence and Bryant Sager co-officiating. Burial will follow services at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lovilia, IA. An open memorial has been established to be determined at a later date.
