Koffman, age 65 of Albia, died Thursday, April 10, 2008, at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia. Paul was born in Melrose on August 14, 1942, to Mike and Helen (Nigut) Koffman. He graduated from Albia High School class of 1960. Paul then attended Iowa State University for a short time before an automobile accident caused him to leave school. Paul married Dorothy Jane Lewis on February 28, 1970, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia. To this union six children were born. Paul farmed all his life, and was the owner and operator of Koffman Amoco in Albia. He also worked at the Albia sale Company. Paul was currently an elected Monroe County Supervisor and chairman. Paul was in his 16th year of service to Monroe County. He served on many local, district, and state committees throughout his 16 year career. Paul enjoyed fishing, and teaching his grandchildren how to fish. He also enjoyed his children's and grandchildren's sporting events. Paul was a member of and past parish president of St. Mary's Catholic Church and past president of the Knights of Columbus council #4167 and an active member of the Knights of Columbus 4th degree assembly #1925, the Monroe County and Iowa Cattlemen's Association, and was active in the Monroe County Democratic Party. Paul was former 4-H leader, Moravia School Board Member, and also worked on the Farmers Home Administration Board. Paul is survived by his wife; Dorothy Jane Koffman of rural Albia; his six children; Paul Koffman and wife Kathleen of Overland Park, KS, Steve Koffman of Knoxvile, Helen Marie Koffman-Moore and husband Brian of Eddyville, Sarah Jane Mister and husband Monte of O'Fallon, IL, Elizabeth Ruth Tille and husband Jamie of Knoxville, James D. Koffman and wife Amy of Albia. Paul is also survived by eight grandchildren, Kristina Koffman, McKinley, Trey, and Brooks Moore, Aubrey and Tyce Mister, Cheyenne Tille, and Carter Koffman; and one brother; Alex Koffman of Eden, WI Paul was preceded in death by his parents; Mike and Helen, three brothers; Michael F. Koffman, John E. Koffman, and Tom Koffman; and one sister Katherine (Kay) Myers. Funeral services for Paul will be held at 10:00A.M., Monday, April 14, 2008, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia, with Rev. Michael Volkmer C.PP.S. officiating. Burial will follow services at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Albia. Visitation will be held Saturday and Sunday, beginning at 2:00 P.M., Saturday April 12, 2008, at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia. Paul's family will be present throughout the day and from 6 to 8:00 P.M., Saturday evening. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M., on Sunday April 13, 2008, at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia. At 4:00 P.M., on Sunday, a rosary will be led by the Knights of Columbus, council #4167, with 4th degree Honor Guard. A Christian Wake service will be held at 5:30P.M., Sunday evening with Paul's family present from 4 to 8:00P.M.
