Linda Diane Griffin

Linda Diane (Ogle) Griffin, age 74, of Albia, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia, surrounded by her loved ones, under the care of EveryStep Hospice. Linda was born on July 6, 1952, to James Ivan and Arlene (McCombs) Ogle. Following the passing of her father Jim, she was lovingly raised by her mother and stepfather, Keith Ragan. She grew up in Albia, graduating from Albia High School in 1970. On March 27, 1971, she was united in marriage to Jerry Griffin at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albia. They were blessed with 3 children, Brenda, Brian, and Kevin, and shared 55 years of marriage prior to Linda’s passing. Linda worked at several businesses in Albia over the years, including Chamberlain Manufacturing, Smitty’s Sandwich Shop, Albia Day Care, and Mike’s Blooms & Things. She eventually settled in at Ogle’s Greenhouse where she served as the manager for 24 years. Linda was a dedicated member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she faithfully taught CCD classes and generously volunteered her time helping with election day dinners and the country store over the years. She loved plants and gardening, especially perennials. She also had a passion for painting and creating craft projects. Above all else, Linda cherished her family, especially her 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Being a grandmother was one of her greatest joys and she treasured every moment spent with them. Linda is survived by her husband, Jerry; her children, Brenda (Paul) Hatfield, Brian (Tammi) Griffin, and Kevin (Cheryl) Griffin; 7 grandchildren, Logan Hatfield, Becca (Colton) Hammons, Makenzie (Hunter) Hastings, Kaitlyn (Parker Stroup) Griffin, Brock (Shelby Roozenboom) Griffin, Abbey (Joe) Teno, and Jax Griffin; 2 great grandchildren, Wrenlee and Parker and twins on the way; her siblings, Steve (Debbie) Ogle, Mike (Lisa) Ogle, and Lori (John) Williams; and her mother-in-law, Marie Griffin. Linda is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jim Ogle and Arlene and Keith Ragan; her grandparents, Roy & Esther Ogle and Lloyd and Faye McCombs; and several other family members. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia with Linda’s family present to greet family and friends. A Rosary will be held at 2:00 p.m. led by St. Mary’s Altar and Rosary Society and A Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albia, with Father Isaac Essel officiating. Burial will follow services at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Albia. An open memorial has been established to the family to be determined at a later date.
