Larry Eugene Brown

Larry Eugene Brown, age 79, of Centerville, IA, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Centerville Specialty Care in Centerville. Larry was born on June 25, 1944, in Unionville, MO, to Ira A. and Nellie (Small) Brown. He grew up attending South Wilson Country School in Appanoose County until transferring to Seymour schools. Larry later attended Indian Hills Community College where he received a diploma for completing the Auto Mechanics course. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and later the Army National Guard. Larry married Connie Clark and to this union, a daughter, Tammy, was born. Larry and Connie later divorced. Larry worked for the Centerville Community School District doing building and grounds work. He was talented in many areas and did odd jobs for people for most of his working career. He enjoyed meeting with friends for coffee and loved watching westerns on television. Larry is survived by his daughter, Tammy (Jim Wright) Brown of Des Moines, IA; a brother, Lloyd Brown of Centerville, IA; his nieces and nephews, Steve (Marchelle) Brown of Centerville, IA, Laura Brown of Brandon, IA, Jeff Brown of Centerville, IA, Sharon (Mike) Probasco of Kirksville, MO, Ron (Kay) Powell of Boone, IA, and Leisa (Robert) Ray of Unionville, MO; a nephew-in-law, Jack (Monica Self) Carter; 4 grandchildren, Nathan McLemore, Ricky (JoAnna) Camper III, Jamarie (Paul) Camper, and David Wright; and 10 great grandchildren, LaVeah, Ricky, JioVonni, Melajia, Diallo, Ziah, Lennon, Phoenix, David Jr, and Quincy. Larry is also survived by several great nieces and nephews and a special sister-in-law, Ginny Ontiveros. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Nellie Brown; a sister, LouElla Ellsworth; and a niece, Shirley Carter. Per Larry’s wishes, his body has been cremated. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Southlawn Cemetery in Seymour, IA.
