Jacob Matthew Brown

Jacob Matthew Brown, age 18, of Carlisle, IA, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines, IA. Jacob was born on October 17, 2005, in Centerville, IA, to Matthew and Trelawney (Lovell) Brown. He grew up attending school in Carlisle and recently graduated from Carlisle High School, Class of 2024. While still in school, Jacob also worked at Fareway and later as a lifeguard at Adventureland before most recently at the Wakonda Club. Jacob enjoyed being outdoors, hiking, and photographing nature and scenery. In his younger years, he was involved in Cub Scouts. He was talented in many areas and enjoyed many different sports over the years including soccer, wrestling, football, and baseball. He also enjoyed fitness and weightlifting and played the Bass Clarinet. Jacob was very charismatic and loved talking to people. He was very generous, kind and loyal and family was everything to him. He often attended his sisters’ dance recitals and soccer games. He enjoyed playing cards and boards games with his family and online games with his friends. He was very creative and imaginative and would create games to play with his younger siblings, such as Cheetah Girls. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, cousin, grandson and friend who will be greatly missed. Jacob is survived by his parents, Trelawney (Phillip) Carman; 6 siblings, Rachel (Jake) Hubbard, Megan (Cody) Snell, and Dustin, Barrett, Lillian, and Clara Carman; his girlfriend, Kiya Ramanan; his nephew, Matthew; his nieces, Joanna, Alice, and Emelia; and his grandparents, Charles and Beth Lovell, Deana and Mark Brumm, Gail and Velma Brown, and Nancy Stevens. Jacob is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and good friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Matthew Gail Brown; a grandmother, Janet Shenefield; and a grandfather, Jim Stevens. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 8, 2024, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 8, 2024, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Pastor Kevin Collins officiating. Following services, cremation will take place. An open memorial has been established to the family to be determined at a later date.
