Greg Wayne Davis

Greg Wayne Davis, age 44, of Albia, IA, passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2025, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loved ones, under the care of EveryStep Hospice. Greg was born on June 28, 1980, at the Albia Hospital, to Dr. Gary and Linda (Wagner) Davis. He grew up attending school in Albia and graduated from the Albia High School with the class of 1998. Greg then went to Tulsa where he attended Spartan School of Aeronautics. He later studied Aviation Maintenance at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa. In June 2005, Greg married Jenisha Stocker and to this union, 3 children, Tayla, Joselyn, and Aubrey, were born. Greg and Jenisha later divorced. On February 1, 2020, he was united in marriage with Ashly Rowe and gained another child, Gunner. While in high school, Greg worked at Albia Granite Company where he helped set monuments. He then worked at Pella Corp for 10 years. Greg most recently worked at 3M in Knoxville. He started in the warehouse, became a machine operator, and then worked as a multi-craft mechanic in the maintenance department. Greg was a car enthusiast and enjoyed going to car shows. He owned an ’88 Mustang, a Jeep Wagoneer “Woody”, and his father’s Shelby Mustang GT500. He had a love for riding dirt bikes. He also owned a Buell motorcycle that he rode at the Sturgis motorcycle rally with his brothers and his dad. Greg was meticulous and liked keeping his house and cars neat and clean. He was very mechanically talented, enjoyed tinkering on things, and could fix anything. Greg was extremely generous, had a huge heart, and was always willing to help anyone. He loved his dog, Chewbacca “Chewie”. Greg’s children were his pride and joy and he focused on teaching them life lessons. His true joy in life was spending time with his family and friends. Greg is survived by his wife, Ashly; 4 children, Tayla, Joselyn, Aubrey, and Gunner; his mother, Linda Mahon; his siblings, Katie (Steve) Seifert, Brad (Sarah Kouri) Davis, and Scott Davis; and a stepsister, Donita (Alan) Geetings. Greg is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends. Greg is preceded in death by his father, Dr. Gary Wayne Davis, and stepfather, Burdette Mahon. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Greg’s family present from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. to greet family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Pastor John Sowers officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Memorials have been established to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and EveryStep Hospice.
