David "Dave" L. See

David “Dave” L. See, age 70, of Albia, IA, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House in Pella, IA, surrounded by his loved ones. Dave was born on April 27, 1954, in Albia, IA, to Warren and Edna (Harger) See. He grew up attending school and graduated from the Albia High School with the class of 1972. On February 9, 1991, he was untied in marriage to Patty Griffin in Ottumwa, IA. Dave and Patty shared 33 years of marriage prior to his passing. Dave was an extremely talented, hardworking man which led to his long career in construction. Dave worked at Maytag in Newton before going to work for Reed Construction. He then went to work as an iron worker for many years, where he operated a crane and was known among those in the field as a golden arm operator due to his ability to operate a crane with such smoothness and precision. Dave was a member of Union #234 Heavy Operators in Des Moines. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, and hunting, especially coon hunting. He also enjoyed hunting and eating mushrooms. He was a Ford man and enjoyed doing mechanical work. He loved going to the races and watching his favorite Nascar driver, Chase Elliott, race on television. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and enjoyed playing cards, poker, and pitch games. Above all else, Dave’s true joy in life was spending time with his family and friends. Dave is survived by the love of his life and best friend, Patty; 6 children, Tony See, Tonya (David Busch) See, Scott (Meghan) See, Amy (Paul Beavers) See, Kerry (Karen) Anderson, and Bill (Theresa) Anderson; 18 grandchildren, Dakota, Storm, Charlotte, Frankie, Andrew, Tyler, Annabel, Saylor, Piper, Kyler, Rylee, Jacob, Bailey, Zack, Hanna, Lilly, Mason, and Tristen; 3 great grandchildren; his 99 year old mother-in-law, Marie Griffin; and his siblings-in-law, Leanna See, Jerry (Linda) Griffin, Joyce (Gilbert) Robinson, Ronnie (Janet) Griffin, Dave (Cheryl) Griffin, Donnie (Sherri) Griffin, Denise Patton, and Robert (Carla) Griffin. Dave is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Edna See; his siblings, Bob See, Barbara Berry, Gary See, Patty Colburn, Dennis See, Correne Blomgren, and Joann Sizemere; and many special aunts, uncles, and cousins. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 24, 2024, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Dave’s family present from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. to greet family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Pastor John Sowers officiating. Burial will follow services at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in rural Albia. An open memorial has been established to the family.
