Cody Christopher Kosman

Cody Christopher Kosman, age 22 of Albia, IA, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2022, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Cody was born June 15, 2000, to Christopher Francis and Stephanie Ann (Popson) Kosman. He grew up in Albia where he attended school and graduated with the class of 2019. While in high school, Cody took welding classes through Indian Hills Community College. He worked construction with his Uncle Jason and was currently employed at Pella Corp. in Pella, IA, working on the paint line. Cody was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albia. He loved being outdoors, fishing and traveling. He enjoyed weightlifting and sports, playing football and golf as well as watching his favorite NFL team, the New York Giants. He was very talented and mechanically inclined. Cody had a great sense of humor and an infectious smile, always making everyone feel welcome. He was very generous and a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend, who gave the best hugs. He enjoyed spending time with his dog, Kota and above all else, spending time with his family and friends. Cody is survived by his parents, Brody and Stephanie Kosman-Baker; a sister, Kayle Kosman; brothers, Casen, Cooper and Conner Baker; his grandparents, Marilyn (Jack) Colwell and Pat (Lynda) Kosman; and uncles, Jason (Joey) Popson and family, Kyle Popson and family; Cary Kosman and family, and Joe Kosman and family. Cody is also survived by several cousins and good friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Chris Kosman; a grandfather, Bill Popson; special cousins, John Michael Popson, in infancy; and Casey Flattery; and great grandparents, John and Irene Popson, Dave and Grace Flattery and Francis and Helen Kosman. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 13, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albia, with Father Mark Yates, C.PP.S. officiating. Burial will follow services at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Albia. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m.-8 00 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Cody’s family present throughout to greet family and friends. A 4:00 p.m. Rosary will be led by the Altar and Rosary society. An open memorial has been established to the family to be determined at a later date.
