Carol Lee (Doll) Wilson

Carol Lee (Doll) Wilson, age 80, of Knoxville, IA, formerly of Albia, IA, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at the Knoxville Hospital in Knoxville. Carol was born on March 30, 1943, at the Albia Hospital to Louie and Theresa (Remmark) Raymie. She grew up attending school in Albia and graduated from Albia High School with the class of 1961. Following high school, Carol attended nursing school at DMACC where she received her LPN. Carol was united in marriage to Donald Doll and to this union, 2 children, Renea and Louie, were born. Donald preceded Carol in death in 1983. In 2003, Carol was united in marriage to Jack Wilson at the Grace United Methodist Church in Moravia. Carol had a long career as a surgical nurse starting at Des Moines General Hospital and then moving to Albia in 1986 and finishing out her career at the Albia Hospital. Carol was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Moravia. She enjoyed being outdoors and fishing. She also enjoyed playing Bingo, cards, and cribbage. She loved to travel, including wintering in Arizona and Texas, and going on Jeep excursions with Jack. Carol had a great sense of humor, and infectious laugh, and lit up any room when she came in. She had a huge heart and was extremely kind and generous. Above all else, Carol loved spending time with her family, especially attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. Carol is survived by her children, Renea (Jamie) Marshall and Louie (Tosh) Doll; 4 stepchildren, Mitch Wilson, Cathy Wilson, Linda Freese, and Bill (Megan) Wilson; 21 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a sister, Charlotte Stokes. Carol is preceded in death by her husbands, Donald Doll and Jack Wilson; her parents, Louie and Theresa Raymie; a stepdaughter, Jackie Gilbert; and 3 siblings, Richard, Louise, and Barb. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 15, 2023, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Carol’s family present throughout to greet family and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 15, 2023, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Pastor Shawn LaRue officiating. Burial will follow services at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Des Moines, IA. An open memorial has been established to the family to be determined at a later date.
