Brian Eugene Ross

Brian Eugene Ross, age 53, of Albia, IA, formerly of Lovilia, IA, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Oakwood Specialty Care in Albia, surrounded by his loved ones, and under the care of EveryStep Hospice. Brian was born on June 12, 1971, in Oskaloosa, IA, to Gerald Keith and Eleanor “Claudine” (Gullion) Ross. He grew up attending school and graduated from the Albia High School with the class of 1989. He worked at Ragtime Industries where he assembled mousetraps for Kness Manufacturing. Brian enjoyed being outdoors and loved going to Adventureland. In his younger years, he enjoyed shooting hoops and playing HORSE. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan. He had a love for all holidays and decorating for the holidays was always a highlight. Brian had a huge heart and was great at remembering everyone’s birthdays which he enjoyed celebrating with pizza parties. Brian had a great sense of humor and loved to joke around with others. He liked movies, especially The Sandlot and Beethoven, but his love for his radios and music was even greater. Brian could almost always be found with a radio, which he preferred to turn up loud, listening to Elvis and Christmas music. He enjoyed shopping for new CDs and DVDs. Brian’s true joy in life was spending time with his family. Brian is survived by 3 siblings, Deb Clough, Greg (Lora) Ross, and Kenny (Anna) Ross; his nieces and nephews, Ross Maddy; Denise (Dustin Burger) Crall, Robert (Persephone) Crall, Grace (Rick) Guffey, Gunnar (Jess) Ross, Jenna (Kagan) Post, Breanna (Curt) Coughlin, Makenna (Logan Stickler) Ross, and Peyton Ross; and his great nieces and nephews, Will, Kaydine, Beth, Daisy, Maddie, Gavin, Colson, Brynlee, Karissa, Kamrynn, Ty, and Kenny. Brian is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Claudine; a sister, Patricia (Bill) Maddy; and a brother-in-law, Chris Clough. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Brian’s family present to greet family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia. Burial will follow services at Gullion Cemetery in Attica, IA. Brian’s family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the staff at Oakwood Specialty Care for the excellent care provided to Brian. A memorial has been established to Oakwood Specialty Care to be used for resident activities.
