Brett Jearl Rowe

Brett Jearl Rowe, age 60, of Albia, IA, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones, under the care of Care Initiatives Hospice. Brett was born on July 24, 1963, in Ottumwa, IA, to Jearl Dean and Belva Aleen (Ferneau) Rowe. He grew up attending school in Albia. On October 20, 1999, Brett was united in marriage to Marites “Tess” Mangubat. Brett and Tess shared 24 years of marriage prior to his passing. Brett worked various jobs over the years with his primary occupation being at Vermeer in Pella, IA, for 25 years. Brett had a love for being outdoors. He enjoyed riding 4-wheelers, bicycling, bird watching, mushroom hunting, and fishing with his 2 sons, Kyle and Ryan. Brett also enjoyed photography, singing karaoke and playing video games. He had a kind and generous heart and truly enjoyed helping others. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and giving others a hard time, which meant he liked them. Brett’s family was everything to him. He had many cousins and spent a lot of time with his cousin, Chuck, while growing up. What one didn’t think of, the other one did. Although they didn’t stay in touch as their adult lives kept them busy, they remained friends until Brett’s passing. His sister, Betsy, will miss their long-distance chats and visits and fondly remember the good times they had over the years. Although Jennifer and Alan were not able to attend, they will miss their brother dearly. Brett will also be greatly missed by Tess’s family. Brett is survived by his wife, Tess of Albia; 2 sons, Kyle (Ashley) Rowe of Knoxville, IA and Ryan (Brittany) Rowe of Loyal Wisconsin; 5 grandchildren, Gunner, Charlie, Piper, Wyatt, and Easton; 2 sisters, Jennifer (Kenneth) Collard of Corydon, IN and Betsy (Randy) Erickson of Fort Collins, CO; a brother, Alan (Arnie) Rowe of Albia, IA; 2 nieces, Lauralee (Mike) Peppers and Sherryl Mae Rowe; 4 nephews, Kenneth Collard Jr., Arlan Rowe, Alex (Courtney) Erickson, and Steve Erickson; and a great niece, Emelia. Brett is also survived by several cousins and good friends. Brett is preceded in death by his parents, Jearl and Belva and a sister, Christine Rowe. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albia, with Brett’s family present to greet family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albia, with Father Mark Yates, C.PP.S. officiating. Per Brett’s wishes, his body will be cremated following services and a private family burial will be held at a later date. An open memorial has been established to the family to be determined at a later date.
