Bonnie June Clancy

Bonnie June Clancy, age 92, of Ottumwa, IA, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Good Samaritan Society in Ottumwa. Bonnie was born on June 27, 1931, to Milton and Bertha (Simmons) Stocker. She grew up attending Fairview Country School and later graduated from the Moravia High School with the class of 1950. On August 27, 1950, she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Clancy and to this union, 2 sons, Dennis and Danny, were born. Bonnie and Bill shared nearly 55 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2004. Bonnie was a homemaker and helped babysit for others. She and Bill also cleaned laundromats in Ottumwa. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles, as well as sewing and embroidering. She was an excellent cook, known for her spaghetti, macaroni and cheese and grilled cheeses. Bonnie loved traveling with her husband, Bill, especially to Bluegrass Festivals. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball fan. Above all else, Bonnie’s family was everything to her and she loved spending time with them, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She proudly accepted the affectionate title of “MeMaw” from her great grandchildren. Bonnie is survived by 2 sons, Dennis (Kathy) Clancy and Danny (Deb) Clancy; 5 grandchildren, Kelly L. Clancy, Melinda J. (Kendall) Williford, Beth Clancy, Kyle (Tara) Clancy, and Danette (Kalab) Ornduff; 1 step grandson, Brandon (Jennifer) Petrehn; and 10 great grandchildren, Dalton, Maddy, Mara, Kalan, Annie, DeShawn (Tenslee), Teaira, Keaira, Malia, and Kingston; 1 great-great granddaughter, Layla Faye; and a sister, Marge Coghlin. Bonnie is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; parents, Milton and Bertha; and 11 siblings, Verlin, Margaret, Betty, Carol, Dwight, Forrest “Leo”, Freida, Mable, Edna and 2 in infancy. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Bonnie’s family present to greet family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Pastor John Sowers officiating. Burial will follow services at Hillcrest Cemetery in Moravia. A memorial has been established to Hillcrest Cemetery in Moravia.
