Alisa Maye Payton

Alisa Maye Payton, age 59, of Des Moines, IA, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family, on Monday, July 29, 2024. Alisa was born on August 27, 1964, to Frederich Roy and Cleona (Stephens) Davis. She grew up attending school and graduated from Des Moines North High School with the class of 1982, where she remained an active member of the Alumni. Following high school, she attended AIB. On June 8, 1984, she was united in marriage to Jerry Guy Payton Jr. and to this union, they were blessed with children. Alisa and Jerry shared 38 years of marriage prior to his passing on April 1, 2023. Alisa worked as an accountant and office manager for NewCom Technologies in Des Moines. She accepted Jesus Christ as a child and was a very spiritual woman. Besides her faith, Alisa’s children were her heart. She was a very talented woman. She loved to crochet, would make anything that was asked of her or would find a way to get it done. She loved to sing and was also a self-taught computer tech. Alisa was a Republican through and through and enjoyed working the elections. She was a stubborn old goat that would have it her way. However, she moved to Texas to honor her husband’s decision, but not without kicking and screaming the whole way. Alisa’s true joy in life was spending time with her family and friends. Alisa leaves behind her children, Jewel (Isaac) Cvrk, Melinda (David) Avery, and Guy (Rayanne) Payton; 8 grandchildren, Leah, Lydia, Lillian, Jason, Katherine, Tabitha, Benjamin, and Hannah; 4 siblings, Sam, Ruthann, Stephen, and Anita; along with her in-laws, Jerry Guy (Phyllis) Payton. Alisa also leaves behind a slew of nieces, nephews, and good friends that will miss her. Alisa is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Payton Jr.; mother, Cleona Stephens; father, Frederich Davis; and 2 nephews, JJ Clark and Christopher Whelchel. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on September 14, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Northridge Baptist Church in Des Moines, IA. A private family burial will be held at Chapel Hill Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the ARL in Alisa’s memory.
